The Gulf of Policastro is a wide inlet lied on the limpid waters of the
Tyrrhenian sea. It extends from the enchanting rock of Punta degli Infreschi,
in Campania, to Capo Scalea, in Calabria. Along this coast nature and history
fuse together, wonderful landscapes raise intense emotions and offer splendid
natural scenaries to lovers of the sea and nature.
The Gulf of Policastro is a paradise of steep promontories and
marvellous cliffs like the promontory of the Masseta and the cliffs of the
Scialandro that contain magic creecks and romantic strips of sands. Steep
falaises, sunk in transparent and deep waters, alternate with long beaches,
wet by waters of an uncontaminated sea..
Submarine springs gush out copious from spectacular and mysterious
karstic caves, non submerged, but inhabited during prehistoric age. They
are numbered among the most important submarine springs of the whole Mediterranean
sea.
